Our Advisory Board is a panel of recognized experts who play a vital role in making Camp
Akeela the premier summer experience for the children we serve. They advise the camp in
areas such as program planning, facility development, camper selection, staff recruitment
and support services. Here's a little more information about each of these wonderful
professionals:
Michael Freidman
Michael is a nationally certified school psychologist and a licensed clinical
psychologist in Pennsylvania. His clinical work focuses on school age children,
their families, and the educational and clinical professionals who work with them.
Michael has developed a particular expertise working with children, teens and adults
with Asperger's Syndrome. He played a key role in the planning and delivery of
a multi-year program to enhance the school psychological services provided by the New
York City Department of Education. He also happens to be Debbie's dad!

in Education from Lesley University. She is a special education teacher in Wayland,

Gail Yeo
Gail is from Newton, Massachusetts and is a mother of two sons, one of whom has
Asperger's Syndrome. She knows first hand how difficult it is to find high quality
programs that make her bright, talented and quirky son feel terrific about himself,
while supporting and facilitating his success. Gail has spent her
career working in outdoor recreation, environmental education and residential camping.
Her interest in working with Camp Akeela is to help ensure that kids who face social
challenges have opportunities to make friends and try new things in a safe, supportive
and fun community. She is also committed to extending the Akeela experience to campers'
families, helping to build a supportive community that lasts long beyond the summer.
