While campers take comfort in the structure and predictability of the Camp Akeela program, they also thrive when given a chance to pick their own activities. While traveling to activities by bunk and age group, campers have ample opportunity for choice. An art period might include a choice between a number of art and wood projects; a sports period may consist of tennis or trampoline.
In addition, the last activity period of each afternoon is called "Specialty Period." Each week, campers select a program area in which to specialize. This allows them time to further develop proficiency and confidence in one area and to connect with others who share their interest.
