Beyond Akeela is a 3-1/2 week program based at Camp Akeela in Thetford, Vermont. As young adults in a camp community,
participants (called LITs or Leaders-In-Training) enjoy the "best of both worlds."
On one hand, they experience all the bonding, friendship and laughter that come with living as a cabin group with responsible,
caring staff members. There is time in their schedule for their favorite structured camp activities and for more casual down time.
On the other hand, LITs are ready for more responsibilities and privileges than their camper counterparts. Beyond
Akeela challenges them in new ways and teaches them about the adults they can be.
We believe that summer should be a time to relax, make friends, try new things and above all, have fun! LITs in the
Beyond Akeela program experience all of these things... and they achieve amazing personal growth.
